The cold rainy afternoon here in Niskayuna, NY  makes me want to look at this picture I shot just last week. I have made uses of a circularly polarizing filter to get this saturated look of the bright pink flowers on the trees to the deep blue sky.

This little preserve with beautiful waterfalls is situated in Rotterdam, NY about 20 mins drive from Schenectady.  The hiking trails are gorgeous. Unfortunately we picked a bad day to go hiking as it was super cold for a spring day in May. So I was only able to get very few pictures. Will go there again sometime in the summer and get pictures of the waterfalls.

Decided to try the new gallery feature introduced by WordPress. I must say, I am quite impressed. So I decided to try it out by showcasing a few pictures of some of my friend’s kids, that I shot in the last two years.

Another image processed with the Capture NX2…..btw this is the Mohawk river trail in Niskayuna, NY.

I shot this with my D90 and processed it using the Capture Nx2 software. I have used Photoshop before and I must say I am finding the NX2 a lot better.

Just like the weather some changes have been made to my photographic equipment as well….. I sold off my D40 and bought a D90 instead. A wonderful camera and loving it so much, a great leap forward from the D40. The above picture was shot with my brand new D90. and the 50 mm 1.8f lens which was such a pain to focus on the D40 body.  I am hoping to shoot many wonderful pictures with the D90 this year and years to come ahead!  So cheers to my fabulous D90!

Some shots from the interior of the Capitol building in Lincoln, NE. The walls inside are adorned with exquisite paintings and from the ceilings hang plenty of breathtaking chandeliers.

As I bid farewell to Lincoln, NE, I am tempted to post this picture of the magnificent NE state Capitol building.

Also thanks to Megan989, who liked an old post of mine of a zoomed shot of the capitol building in Lincoln, NE, I decided to rummage through my pictures file to find this one. I shot this almost a year and a half ago when I decided to go take a look at the capitol building from the inside.

Its a truly magnificent structure and will post some stunning pictures of the interior as well soon. The building built in 1920 is the third such construction on this site. For more information go to http://www.capitol.org/

If not the tallest building in Lincoln then it is definitely the most prominent one and you can see it as soon as your airplane descends into the Lincoln area.

Its been so cold lately that its depressing. I browsed through my picture catalogs and found several pictures shot during springs and summers. The process cheered me up a bit that things eventually get better after they get worse! So after such a harsh winter, I am sure a lot of people out there can’t wait for things to get better. So this ones for good times ahead!

These are old pictures from my travel to Goa, India,  in the summer on 2009. While Goa is a very popular tourist destination due to its gorgeous and well maintained beaches, its also renowned for its spectacular temples. Here are some images from some of the most popular temples in Ponda a southern city in the provincial state of Goa in India.

The temple architecture in Goa is completely different form the traditional temples in the rest of India. Goa was once a Portuguese colony, and I have been told, where Hindus were once persecuted for following their faith.  Hence temples here bear a distinct resemblance to European architecture and  built in such a way that one will never know its a place of worship until you enter the structure.  I guess this way the locals practiced their religion without much fear of being caught.
